ABOUT ROGUE OPERA OUTDOOR TOURING

Rogue Opera's outdoor touring shows are designed to bring opera to new audiences in pub gardens and other unconventional spaces, which means working without the infrastructure of large theatres. The shows are a lot of fun, with the audiences very appreciative of being in a relaxed and up-close and personal environment.

We are looking for singers who are adaptable, collaborative and confident performing in agile environments. This is ensemble touring that values resilience, mutual support and a shared commitment to delivering high-quality work wherever we perform. The 5 singer ensemble is accompanied by a pianist on a Roland digital upright piano. We use high quality DPA on body microphones,  to combat wind and noise interference and are supported by a compact crew of 3 (including an audio engineer).

PLEASE NOTE:

There will be 25 shows over the touring period, with a maximum of 4 shows in a row
Mostly evening performances, with a few matinees, run time 2h 20 m, including interval
Call times: 12:30 pm for matinees / 5:30 pm for evening. NOTE: the majority of shows are outside of London with up to  3 hours travel time to the location
Where a pre-midnight return to London is not possible, the company will stay overnight on location. All travel and accomodation outside of London will be organised and paid for by Rogue Opera. A mileage contribution is provided for cast who can self-drive.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Saving Violetta - through Opera's greatest hits)
Most great operatic love stories end in tragedy….but do they have to!? In this new original production created for Fuller’s Opera in Garden, we find our heroine, La traviata’s Violetta, on her deathbed, dying of consumption and a broken heart, but can she change her fate and the fate of so many operatic heroines? The unexpected appearance before her final curtain of a mysterious quartet gives her a second chance and takes her on a journey through time and opera’s best-loved music. She meets a colourful array of characters offering friendship, love and laughter, helping her on her journey as well as some mischief-makers and traitors. Will she find her soul-mate and change her fate or is she doomed to never escape the operatic curse? With music and characters from operas including La Traviata, La Boheme, Carmen, The Barber of Seville, Tosca, Don Giovanni and more, this is another fantastic evening of entertainment in the pub garden

ABOUT THE ROLES

The Tenor will be part of the SMTB soloist ensemble, who inhabit different characters throughout the show. The final selection of music may be tailored to suit the singers cast, but ideally you are comfortable with excerpts, arias or duets by Alfredo/Rodolfo/Prince Calaf/Duke of Mantua.

We are looking for two sopranos - one Violetta, and the other to play several characters (Puccini heroines/Donizetti heroines TBC) and be part of the ensemble. The final selection of music will be tailored to suit the singers cast, but ideally you are comfortable with Violetta's arias and duets or mid-sized Puccini (Mimi, Musetta) and gala standards.

Strong stage presence and acting are also essential.
