"Lullaby, oh, lullaby!"
Lullaby, oh, lullaby!
Flowers are closed and lambs are sleeping;
Lullaby, oh, lullaby!
Stars are up, the moon is peeping;
Lullaby, oh, lullaby!
While the birds are silence keeping,
(Lullaby, oh, lullaby!)
Sleep, my baby, fall a-sleeping,
Lullaby, oh, lullaby!
Christina Georgina Rossetti was a noted Victorian poet. She wrote a variety of romantic, devotional and children's poems.
Composer, Gerald Finzi was born into a Jewish family in London in 1901. Though an agnostic, he wrote heartfelt Christian choral music and became one of the most characteristically English of composers. He also grew apples, saving a number of rare English apple varieties from extinction.
